"Original Untitled"
Arranged by Mickey Abraham Written by Wyatt Rice DOWNLOAD PDF | DOWNLOAD MP3 Hello and welcome once again to Flatpicking Guitar Magazine’s free lesson portion of our monthly lesson. This month I feel I have a very rare and special tune. “Original Untitled” is a Wyatt Rice composition that was track three on the Rice Brothers first recording. The album is out of print and the songs are hard to find even on the internet. I don’t think I have ever seen any tabs or sheet music for this tune either. It’s truly a lost classic.
The song was named by Tony Rice while playing on stage. He introduced Wyatt and the original song he was about to play. “Here’s Wyatt Rice with ‘Original Untitled’” -- and the name was born.
“Original Untitled” is constructed of two sections. I, for no particular reason, have swapped the order of these sections. For this lesson the tune’s “A” section is a beautiful descending major scale run and the “B” section is a Rice style bluesy section. On the original album version the blues section is played first followed by the major scale run.
I’d like to thank Wyatt for letting me use this amazing tune for our newsletter. As always if you have any questions or comments just drop me line at [email protected]
