Orrin Star Columnist Compilation Book
This book is one in a series that provides every article that was published in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine by a particular columnist. This volume of the series presents all of the articles, and accompanying audio, written and recorded by Orrin Star in his column the "O-Zone."
This book presents 280 pages of information and includes over 250 audio tracks on one mp3 CD data disc. This compilation includes 97 tunes arrangement by Orrin Star (see song list below).
From editor Dan Miller: This book compiling Orrin Star’s articles is the fifth in this columnist archival series. I contacted Orrin and asked him to be a columnist just prior to publishing our first issue because I was impressed with the book he had written titled Hot Licks for Bluegrass Guitar. From the start, Orrin was enthusiastic about writing for the magazine and, at the beginning, decided that he would address the topic of playing up-the-neck. Later his articles strayed away from that topic and his column became known for his choice of interesting tunes and songs and his creative and tasteful arrangements of those tunes and songs. Orrin’s teaching was always clear, concise, and detailed. He was fun to work with and over the years Orrin and I became friends. I always looked forward to conversations with Orrin. Like his song arrangements, they were very interesting, engaging, and enlightening. Sadly, about a year after we finished publishing the magazine, Orrin lost his battle with cancer on November 29, 2017. He was 62 years old. His humor, wit, and musical talent is missed.
