John Carlini Columnist Compilation Book

This book is one in a series that provides every article that was published in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine by a particular columnist. This volume of the series presents all of the articles, and accompanying audio, written and recorded by John Carlini in his column the "Taking It To The Next Level."

This book presents 230 pages of information and includes 170 audio tracks on one mp3 CD data disc. This compilation includes 57 tunes arrangement by John Carlini (see song list below). Plus there are many articles included that address music theory and musicianship.

From editor Dan Miller: John’s columns were always very interesting and informative and he covered all of the possibilities—from bluegrass, to swing jazz, to Gypsy jazz, to classical, to Christmas, to Bebop, to Celtic, Gospel, Folk, rhythm, theory, Dawg music...you name it. John can do it all and taught our readers that they could also do it all. John originally titled his column “Adventures in Acoustic Music,” but then later changed the title to “Taking It To The Next Level.”
Both titles were very appropriate to the material John presented in his column. Many of John’s columns were not for the weak of heart. To understand the complexities of what John presented, you really had to dig in and develop skills that many beginning-to-intermediate players had yet to explore on the acoustic guitar. I think that was John’s intent. He wanted to challenge the readers to take their playing to the next level and explore acoustic music beyond their current ability level and, at times, beyond what they may have thought was possible.
